I am looking for
Chris Jones, who is
probably in
Australia. I believe
he was RLI around
1976/77--he would
have been about 20
then. I think he was
born in New Guinea
but hailed from
Aussie. If anyone
knows where he is
could you give him
my e-mail address:
ibornet@sfccnm.edu
and ask him to get
in touch.
Thank you.

Christopher Morgan
Do you have
any information that
will help us trace
Christopher Morgan.
He joined with the
start of the RLI in
1961 and was in MT
but I don’t know if
he stayed on in the
RLI after 1964 which
was when we lost
contact and at that
time he was either
Corporal or Lance
Corporal.
Heppenstall
is an unusual name
and as a youngster I
can remember my Dad
mentioning the name.
Just in case this
email catches you by
surprise, he was
also Laurie and left
the RLI with the
break up of the
Federation and was
Captain in charge of
MT. He died 10 years
ago.
We would
really appreciate
your help..
Best
regards,
Laurie

Accommodation
Requiredd
One of our
members who served
in the RLI from way
back in the Brady
days, right up until
1973, is in
desperate need of
accommodation,
preferably in the
Joburg area. A small
cottage would be
ideal, but he would
even settle for a
room with en suite
bathroom. He’s
unfortunately
largely
incapacitated, so
needs to have caring
folk close by for
the odd bit of
shopping and the odd
chore. He’s able to
contribute towards
the cost of “house
help” and his
overall monthly
budget for the
accommodation and
the house help is in
the order of
R3,000.00.
If you think
you may have
something suitable,
please contact me in
the first instance.
Otherwise, please
spread the appeal.

Tjaart A. Van Der Walt
I served in the battalion from 1966 through 1970, first with 1 Commando and then in Recce Troop Support Group, I moved my family from SA in 1991 and we now reside in Phoenix Arizona, my family and I are now US citizens, bur having grown up on my families farms in Enkeldoorn and Featherstone area, we all feel the bushveld still in our blood.
I would like to once again wear my regimental tie, badge and blazer, and if it is possible find a copy of the beret and badge. I have registered as a member of the association and would like to get in contact with friends in the Battalion as well as the USA contingent of the Association.
I was recruited to the air force in 1972 to help form a field security regiment along with a couple of police officers and one never to be forgotten friend, Don Junner of the SAS. In 1979 during the November/December, “we are all friends' process” I resigned, effective March 1980, from the air security regiment as a WOII. However, the power that be saw me as a destabilizing factor and as a South African citizen, I was requested to leave the country immediately.
I hope this finds you and yours in good spirit,
Note; two of my brothers, Wynand Van Der Walt and Jacobus (JJ) Vander Walt, served in the Battalion
