Tpr. Eike Elsaessar was a Canadian from Alberta Canada. He had served in
the Canadian Army Reserves. He joined 3 Commando 17 October 1978 and
served with them nearly a year. Eike was a quiet professional popular
soldier. He would sometimes play catch with a fellow Canadian with a
rugby ball but throwing it North American football style. He was
tragically killed along with Tpr. Bruce McKend in a contact in Operation
Hurricane.
